Sandburg Women’s Hoops to Host Oakton in Postseason Opener

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team will host Oakton at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium in the quarterfinals of the Region IV District D tournament.


The Chargers (15-10) earned the second seed in the tournament while the Owls (7-23) are seeded sixth. The teams did not face each other in the regular season.


The winner will face third-seeded Prairie State in the semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waubonsee. The title game is scheduled for noon March 11 at Waubonsee, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship from March 21-25 in Harrison, Ark.
