GALESBURG — Carl Sandburg College Foundation Board member Naomi Law has established a $10,000 endowment to support scholarships for students in Sandburg outreach groups Men of Distinction (MOD)/Women of Character (WOC). Law plans to make an additional $5,000 annual donation to this endowment for the next 10 years. This endowment scholarship is now open for application and will be awarded annually.
By establishing this endowment, Law has invested in the students who increasingly impress her with their effort and desire to reach their life goals, and it will preserve the legacy of Law and the work of her son Anthony Law, coordinator of minority outreach and admissions recruiter at Sandburg, in the community for several generations to come.
“I understand not only the importance of a quality education but also the need for support from the community to ensure that Sandburg students have every opportunity to achieve their academic goals,” Naomi Law said. “The members of MOD/WOC are making a positive difference throughout the Galesburg area and beyond. I’m honored and excited to be able to invest in such an effective organization, and I encourage others to give their financial support to MOD/WOC or any of the many other exceptional groups at Sandburg.”
To be eligible for the MOD/WOC scholarships, students must be a member of MOD/WOC and have at least a 2.0 grade point average. These scholarships are open to new, returning or continuing students in any program of study at Sandburg.
