GALESBURG — Teams of artists and welders will test their mettle against one another in the Carl Sandburg College Art Welding Competition at 9 a.m. Feb. 10 in the Center for Manufacturing Excellence on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2051 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.
Coordinated by the Sandburg welding and art departments to promote collaboration and make use of materials that otherwise may have gone to waste, pairs consisting of one art student and one welding student will create a metal sculpture in one six-hour session. Mary Neill Schuytema will serve as the juror for this year’s competition. Awards will be announced at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend at any point in the competition.
