Gordon Leads Chargers’ 3 Runners at NJCAA XC Nationals

EL DORADO, Kan. — Carl Sandburg College women’s cross country sophomore Andrea Gordon (Normal, Ill./Normal West) led the Chargers’ three runners in the NJCAA Division I national championships Saturday at Prairie Trails Golf Course.

 

Gordon, making her second straight nationals appearance, improved her finish and time from last year, finishing the 5-kilometer race 159th out of 316 competitors in 21 minutes, 10:93 seconds. Gordon last year was 190th in 21:55.67.

 

Sandburg freshman Anastasia Beetler (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg), runner up in the Region IV meet two weeks ago, was just behind Gordon, taking 161st in 21:11.39.

 

Sophomore Shayla Kozak (Normal, Ill./Normal West), like Gordon, also improved her standing from last year’s appearance at nationals, taking 226th in 22:12.62. Kozak was 260th in 23:35.60 a year ago.
