Heck Ties for 11th as Chargers Take 5th in Augustana Highland Classic

ROCK ISLAND — Jenna Heck (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) tied for 11th overall as the Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team finished fifth in the Augustana Highland Classic at Highland Springs.


The Chargers totaled 359 in Saturday’s first round and 358 in Sunday’s final round for a 36-hole total of 717. Sandburg placed 13 shots behind fourth-place Monmouth. Augustana won the tournament with a 660 two-day total.


Heck shot 90-85—175 to lead the Chargers. Morgan Newton (Erie, Ill./Erie), helped by a career-best 87 on Saturday, finished with a 183 total to tie for 23rd. Katlyn Weber (Erie, Ill./Erie), who posted a career-best 86 in the final round, and Carrie Raders (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) each finished at 184 for the tournament to tie for 25th. Callie Raders (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) was a shot back in a tie for 28th after shooting 90-95—185.


Sandburg’s next tournament is the Monmouth Invite on Sept. 16-17 at Gibson Woods.
