Personal Statement:

I strongly believe in the community college system and what it has to offer students. Carl Sandburg College offers smaller class sizes, exceptional facilities and amazing faculty. I feel the Community College is the place for students to attend when they are looking for strong technical skills. Through short-term certificates and stackable degrees, students are able to attend for a semester, a year or two years and walk away with employable skills.

I thoroughly enjoy having the opportunity to work with the students that attend Sandburg. Whether this is in the classroom, through Skype or online, it is the highlight of my week to work with the variety of students that enroll in the classes I teach. Introducing students to new technology and seeing the progress over the course of a semester is very rewarding. I know what it is like to sit in a room and have someone lecture about how to complete a project. I am a firm believer in the power of hands-on learning. Showing individuals how to use tools to improve their daily life, as well as skills to make them more employable is one of the main objectives in my classes.
