David KelloggPersonal Information

I am currently the Coordinator of the Criminal Justice Program at Carl Sandburg College. I received my B.A. (1996), and M.A. (1998) degree from Western Illinois University. From 2001 to 2004 I served as the Director of Educational Programs at Henry Hill Correctional Center, where I managed both vocational and educational programs within the correctional institution. I was a four year veteran of the Illinois Department of Corrections (1998-2001) working as both a correctional officer and tactical response team member. During college I worked in Macomb for the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department (1994-1998) as a county correctional officer, court security officer and reserve deputy sheriff. I served proudly (1989-1998) in the United States Army Reserve and Illinois Army National Guard. This opportunity awarded me training and understanding in tactical combat training and counter-narcotics operations.

I have attended over 1800 hours of federal and state law enforcement training. Additionally, I have certifications from both the University of Illinois Police Training Institute as well as the Illinois Department of Corrections Training Academy. I have guest lectured on numerous correctional topics at Monmouth College, Western Illinois University, and here at Carl Sandburg College.

I was raised in Des Moines, Iowa and migrated to Illinois in 1992 to attend Western Illinois University. I am married and the father of five children; where my wife and I focus our social life around their endeavors. I enjoy fishing, sand sculpting, and weight lifting.
